Matthew Scales is currently Texas Highway Patrol Captain for the El Paso District in Region 4.  Captain Scales started his career with DPS in 2002 and was stationed in Dalhart.  He was later promoted in 2008 in El Paso as a CVE Sergeant.

Captain Scales entered the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Service in 2005 as a CVE Trooper and have been actively involved with CVE since. In 2011, he started teaching Basic Weight Law, and have been the lead weight law instructor for the Department’s Weight Law class for the past several years.  He is also currently a voting member on the Size and Weight Committee for CVSA.
